On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, IHM hosted a life-sized replica of the Shroud of Turin in the Church. The Shroud was one of about 50 copies in the world, made from an original photo of the shroud. There was also a copy of the facial cloth, Sudarium of Oviedo, on display, too.
The Shroud of Turin is the cloth that Jesus was buried in which now bears an amazing image of Jesus. Many think that the image was imprinted on the cloth at the moment of resurrection. It is called the Shroud of Turin because the original has been kept in the town of Turin, Italy, but the Shroud has had many different names in the course of history.
There has been much scientific study made of the shroud and the details of the study are amazing.
Presenter Bob Bird looked at the significance, history and science behind the Shroud, one of the world's most fascinating religious artifacts. Bird is the host of "The Bird's Eye View" radio show on KSRM in Kenai, Alaska. He has taught Western Civilization and U.S. History at Kenai Peninsula College. He has done extensive research on the Shroud.
Bob Bird kindly allowed IHM to videotape his presentation. To view the recording, visit the IHM Youtube channel HERE, go to videos, and look for "Shroud of Turin, July 13." The presentation begins about 9 minutes into the video.
